High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

AM- 4 easy. I woke up late, so these had to be a bit faster than I wanted to have them.

PM- Track workout.  Sadly it got really windy and cold and started snowing a bit during the repeats, so it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.  1.5 miles warm up, 2X1200 at Interval Pace with 3 minutes recovery, then 2X1000 at same pace with 1 minute rest after.  My times for the 1200 were the same both times:3:30, right where they needed to be.  My first 1000 was 5 seconds slow, 3:00, then my second was 12 seconds slow: 3:07.  We then did 1.5 miles cool down, and I could feel these last few days.  My body was just tired today.

Track- About a mile warm up, maybe more. We did 4 tempo miles.  My splits were: 5:03, 5:04, 5:25, and the last mile I just ran until I thought it was a mile, but I'm not sure what the split was.  I felt great the first two miles, but then my pace slowed because I started running into the wind, instead of with it.  About 2 miles cool down.  Once I got home I did one mile easy.  I'm a bit dissappointed in myself for the last two miles of this workout, because I knew I slowed down a lot those last two miles when I could have pushed it more.

Track- we did about 2-2.5 miles easy.  After we did some strides, which I wasn't able to go too fast during.  After I did 3 miles, to make it atleast five for the day.  Tomorrow is a dual meet, but since we don't have an invite on Saturday I don't know if I'll push it or not.

I wasn't going into this too competitively, I kinda lost my motivation to the cold, so I just went and ran it.  Mile warm up, then the 1600 (4:35), which wasn't as fast as I wanted, but I didn't have much motivation during the race.  It was a dual meet, so I don't feel I needed to give my all now.  Then the 800m, which went really well at the start.  At 200m I passed AJ and Thomas, but then AJ tripped and rolled, and Thomas lost a shoe, so it wasn't much of race with them anymore.  I was a 60 at the 400m mark, but during my last lap my hamstring tightened up, and I just slowed the last 200m, just making sure Thomas wouldn't beat me.  My time was 2:07, he was pretty close to me though.  After that I did a mile easy, then ran the 3200m with Nick who was going for a 13 second PR of 10:15.  He went out a bit fast, for this pace, but then slowed, and then got back on the pace near the end.  I wasn't too great of a pacer either.  He ended up getting a 10:30, but for the weather, I think he did pretty well.  Cool down after.

9 easy long miles with Kyler and Wes.  It snowed a bit, but the main problem was the wind.  Sometimes it would go north, sometimes south, but most of the time it went east.

7 easy.  3.5 with my dad and sister, then the rest by myself.  I felt good, and my legs felt like they could go farther, but I feel that when I pushed myself on the weekend last week, I wasn't able to hit the right times for my workouts, so I think I'll take it easier today.
