Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

AM-4.1 miles with Talem.

PM-MLR today.  13.72 miles.  Ran to the WCC course, ran a couple loops, and then ran back.  I felt super tired during the first 6 miles, and then started to feel pretty good.

AM-4.1 easy miles with Michael and Talem.

PM-4Xmile.  Ran at K park.  I didn't feel great doing the warm up, but felt good when we started.  First mile Rory, Clayton and I stayed pretty close together, finished at 4:40.  Next was nearly the exact same.  Third mile Coach wanted us to run as a pack, so we held back a bit to 4:42, and then third one we stayed together and ran it in 4:39.  Felt really good after, so I'm excited to see what happens in the next few meets.

AM-5 miles alone. Felt great, probably went a bit quicker than I should have, but it was nice.  Pretty warm.

PM-Easy workout.  2x800m in 2:20 and 2:16 I think, and then a 400m in 1:01 all at intramural field. The workout got easier as we went.  This Saturday should be fun.

AM-2.5 miles for warm up and strides after.  Felt good.  It was a bit hard to treat this as a race due to the fact of it being in Provo, but I feel like I did well to mentally prepare for it.  Race went out fairly fast the first 400m, then slowed and felt pretty relaxed.  The plan was to just run as a team through 5km, then we could start speeding it up.  I ran behind McMillan and Rory for most of the early portions of the race.  We came across 2km a bit slower than I expected, just a few seconds over 6 minutes.  James Mwaura sped it up and I just stayed in the same spot.  At a little before 4km I ended up in the front and kept the same effort.  We were under 12 minutes through 4km.  I felt pretty relaxed, the race didnt' seem like we were flying.  When I could see the 5km mark, I started to speed it up, but slowed it down about 500m later due to spinning out of a turn funny, and let McMillan lead.  6km was in the 17:40s. McMillan and I led together until a mile to go, then Rory led, then I took it back, then Nick Hauger took the lead.  We went back and forth, Huager and I, for the next 600m with him leading for the most part.  I was hurting a decent amount, and thought McMillan would outkick Hauger and thought I would get 3rd.  Hauger had a strong kick with 400m left and I didn't respond, and McMillan just stayed behind me.  At 200m to go, I realized I had given up nearly 5 seconds in 200m, and tried to make some of it up, but it was way too late.  McMillan ended up passing me with 150m to go, but he started kicking too late as well.  Fun day.  Cool down after.

PM-5 miles.
