Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

AM-6.5 easy miles, mostly with Talem, Michael, and Jake.
PM-2 mile, 1.5 mile. 1 mile at Intramural field. For some reason, intramural field is always "longer" according to people's gps watches, but it is flatter, so I'm never too sure what to think of times. Anyway, 9:25, 7:04, 4:35 for the splits. Felt good. Last year I was 15 seconds slower on the 2 mile, 1 second slower on the 1.5, and 1 second faster on the mile. Last year I didn't run this workout alone.

AM-6 miles with Michael and Jake.

PM-12 miles with some strides on the indoor track.  The group thinned out when we did a loop near the airport and back on the old highway, and later university.  It was perfect weather.

AM-2x800 on grass with fast starts, tempo mile on grass, 800 on track at same effort as grass, but no fast start.  Felt warmed up a lot more on the second 800, plus Zac was right on my heels. 2:14, 2:12, 4:53, 2:04

PM-6.1 miles.

AM-May have miscalculated the distance. Race went well, lots of wind, fast moves, and good competition. I was very fortunate to come away with the win today. I'll write more later

Warmed up 2.5 miles with the team. I didn't get a bad start, but it wasn't the best.  The plan was to run with the pack, unless the Campbell athletes took it our really hard. Well, the Campbell athletes took it out hard, and Danny made room for me to sprint and catch up.  I was with them at about 600m, and it felt fast.  I knew that I just should run behind these athletes, but it felt quicker than I thought it should.  I caught up with them, and we went through 1000m at 2:38.  I knew this was downhill, but it still felt really quick.  We slowed pretty quickly, and the rest of the group caught up.  We went through the mile at 4:24, and then the pace kept slowing to about 4:40 pace, and eventually, 4:50ish pace.  Our 1000m splits started getting over 3 minutes, and suddenly there was a large pack together.  The wind wasn't too bad, so I led a bit, but didn't really push the pace.  With a mile to go, Isai Rodriguez started pushing the pace, and the Amon went with him, and later pushed the pace. I caught up, just being ready for any move.  After a bit, I looked back and realized the pack was just us 3, and I felt like we were slowing down, so I put in a surge, but Amon quickly passed me.  With 400m to go, we could see the finish and I knew it was going to be a long kick, so I waited before really picking the pace up.  I had taken the lead here, and with about 100m to go they were still with me, but then I had another gear, and was fortunate enough to get the win.  After, I turned around and saw Jake take 4th, which was huge, and then the rest of the guys in our top 5 raced great.  Sadly, Kramer and Jacklin both got hurt in the race and faded really hard. Fortunately, Michael, who was having an off day, passed enough people in the final straight that we barely beat Colorado.  Great run for the team, but we are going to have to race better if we are going to have a shot at beating NAU.

PM-4 miles in Chicago. Pretty tired from the meet and long bus ride.
