Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

PM-12x1000m at tempo effort with 60 sec rest. Started around 3:01, then Coach had me slow it down to 3:06 for a few. Last four were 3:01, 3:01, 2:53, 2:54. Felt good. Lots to work on for this season personally though.

AM-not 100% sure on this mileage, but it will be fine. 2x(mile, 1200, 800) with 400-600m jog recovery between.  Mile and 1200 were on the wet grass, 800s were on the track to check the relative effort.  Ran 4:46, 3:32, 2:10, 4:44, 3:29, 2:08.  Matt and Talem were there too, we all seem to have classes during practice on Wednesdays.

PM-6.2 miles on my own. Felt tired.

AM-race:  2.5 mile warm up, then some strides.  Warmed up a bit earlier than my liking, but it was alright.  I felt better than yesterday; however, still a bit stiff.  I got a great start, for me atleast, and didn't worry about any trouble.  The pace felt really quick after 200m, and it didn't really slow until about 600m.  I slowed down a bit, and just let the front guys go, before slowly catching up.  I took the lead with JQ at the start of the first 2km loop.  The course had a 1km loop, then 3x2k loops.  The guys behind me said that they heard they were sub-4:40 at the mile mark, and so JQ and myself were likely around 4:35.  After a bit, JQ fell off, then Jacklin ran by me for the next loop plus a little more.  On the 2nd 2k loop, Garrett Marsin got a bit ahead of me, and shared some of the work.  He was going pretty quick, but then he asked me if that was our last loop, and I told him we had one more.  He wasn't with us to run the course yesterday, so he wasn't sure about the course.  At the end of that loop, he was slowing.  I decided to speed up here and see what I could run the last 2k in.  I wasn't all out, but I did speed it up.  4 mile cool down after.  This meet was fun because there were a lot of friends and family that came to support too.  I'm not sure how long the course actually was, as I've heard both 7km and 7.5 km.

PM-6 miles around k park.
