Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

5k again, except I knew the course.  Ran it in 16:16.  I was pretty happy about it.

Warm up with the distance team ( the whole 4 of us).   We later started, and I didn't have a goal in mind yet.  The first 200 had a fast pace then everyone slowed down, so I decided to lead it for the next 400 after that.  Later I got passed by Mitch, Adam, and Tyler.  I stayed with them to the 3rd lap where some guy I don't know cut me off and threw my tempo off.  I recovered and passed him.  Tyler, Adam and Mitch were up there, but I tried to catch up.  I passed Mitch in the final 100 meters.  Tyler got a 4:30, Adam got a 4:33, and Mitch was right up with me.  I now know that I only need 10 seconds faster for state qualifying.  I'm going to try for it, but I don't know if I'll get it.

Didn't see anyone who was going to push the pace a lot for me, so I had to pace myself.  Did a good/cold warm up with Nick.  Was ready, and later just went.  Nobody was by me for most of the race.  I had some funny splits, not that consistent today looks like, but oh well.  My goal was to qualify for state, and I did.  I had a fast 800 (2:16) and then a fast mile(4:46) which later made the rest of the race easier.  I wish I would've pushed it for the last mile more.  Felt not that good during it, and after it, but atleast I qualified for state.

Had bearly any miles in this week, so tried to get some in.  I felt absolutley terrible.  I ate a banana and a piece of bread, without thinking, before I went, and those are the worst things for me before a run.  I stopped at mile 4 because I just felt terrible.  My last mile usually is my slowest, because it's the last and it's uphill.  I felt terrible during it, but I timed it anyway and got a 5:45 on it.  Kind of surprised about it.  Did a half mile cool down after.

Same as yesterday.  5 mile tempo, half mile cool down.  Averaged a 5:47 or 5:48 pace.  Felt a bit better than I did yesterday.
