High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

AM- Woke up early and went an easy 5.

PM- Track workout..ish.  We did a mile warm up, then a mile time trial just to see where we are at the start of the season.  My goal was atleast to hit a sub-4:30, my pace goal for the 3200m at Arcadia.  I went out fast, but it felt really good. 1:03, then my second lap slowed and it hurt.  1:10.  Third lap I started feeling really good and started pushing it again, even though it didn't show it in the time. 1:10  Fourth lap I felt good and pushed it the first 200m, but slowed down a bit during the last 200m.  Kinda lost sight of it, and my last 50m I realized it and sped up.  After we did an easy 800, then some 200m repeats at R-pace.  My pace was supposed to be 31-32.  I sprinted all of these and hit 30 the first time and 31 the other three times.  After we did a 2.5 mile cool down.

Once I got home, I did one mile with my dog and my sister.  Easy.

AM-3.5 felt really easy.  averaged around a 6:20 pace.  Surprised how I felt.   After this I went on jog with my dog for half a mile.

PM-7.  Track Practice. Felt good, went with Kyler and Tyson. After we did some stretching, which felt really good to do.

6 miles.  1 warm up, then a workout.  2X1000m at 4:40-4:44 mile pace, then 3X800m at same pace-2:20-2:22, with 2 minutes rest in between.  My first 1000m was a few seconds fast, but it felt good.  My second was in between the two different paces.  My first 800m was around a 2:21, so it was about right.  My second 800m hurt a ton, and was about a 2:22.  My final 800m I was really struggling and it was 2:25.  After I finished with a cool down that brought it up to 6 miles. I was bearly able to run my cool down I was so tired.  Good Workout though.  Maybe I'll do an extra mile, just to keep my miles high.

2 miles after practice.  1 easy just to get my mind focused, then one with my sister and my dog, which was just a slow jog.

Easy day today.  A little over 5 at practice today probably 5.5, then 2 easy when I got home.  My body is ready for these higher mile weeks, but after this week I'm going to slower lower my miles, and bring up the intensity.  Tomorrow is tempo, and it'll probably be 4 miles, but it needs to be faster than what I usually do my tempo at.  I'll probably do some tempo on Saturday too, maybe not as fast though.

5.5- track.  We did a 4 mile tempo run today, and coach has been having us use these VDot Charts (which were made by Jack Danials I think) to figure out where we should be running these workouts.  My pace was a 5:09 for this workout.  I thought that was going to be impossible, but it actually wasn't too hard to hit.  The course wasn't too hard, very few turns, not a lot of elevation change, so I'm not too surprised thinkin about it afterward.  Splits:5:05.7(uphill), 5:15(uphill, then downhill), 5:12.8(downhill) , 5:03.3(flat).  I averaged just over a 5:09, so it was right where I needed to be.  I felt good, adn this far into the week hopefully means I'm used to the milage now.  Now pretty soon it'll be coming back down.

I went and did a 5k my school was putting on today. I just was going to do it easy, but I went to support the cause(we're building a library in Africa). I ran with Jerrell and Luis for most of the race, and I think our time was around 19:10-15. Luis was around 19:05. After I ran home with my sister to make it 5.2, then I did another 2 on my own.
