High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

I did 2.5 miles at a pretty good pace, took some layers off, did a mile, put the hat back on.  Did the next half mile pretty fast.  Did a cool down mile, then put the other layers on and did a mile at a low 5 minute, then did a hill workout for a third a mile, then cool down for the rest.  I felt great for the first bit, then started feeling terrible.

Did 4 miles at pretty good pace, probably a 6:10 pace, took a layer off, did another mile at 5:45 pace.  Felt pretty good.

Did  a 4.5 mile slow run with some cross country guys.  The did some striders for a half mile.  Felt good to go slower than the last few days.

Ran down to Mack Park did 2 sets of beauty/beast sprints.  Took a layer off, and went faster and pushed it harder for 2 more times.  Then ran to the church to play some church ball for about 8 minutes.

Did 2 miles slow, then did some striders.  I might've pushed it a bit too fast for a pre-meet day, but felt pretty good.

Okay,  I didn't know how to make this into two races, so I added the times and put the overall place as the mile, and the division place as the 2 mile.  2 mile time was 10:05(?) and my mile time was 4: 44. And, well, track is starting.  I went to the building at USU and ran the mile after waiting for a long time.  The track was 200 meters, so it would have been 8 times around for the 1600.  They were looking for ways to split up the people into heats, and they said who runs 4:40s, and my friend pushed me up there with 3 other guys.  then they said who runs 4:55s and more people came up.  They then started, and I was planning on staying behind Jerrel or Adam for the race, just so I could get an official track mile time.  No one was putting a pace out there, so I started going in a pretty good one, and led the first mile.  Jerrel then took over, because he also realized the pace was pretty slow.  Half way through my half mile time was 2:20, right where I was hoping, while I felt like I could push it more, I thought I would burn up if I did, so I kept that pace.  In that same lap some guys, including Jerrel, starting throwing out some hard paces.  I didn't really try that hard to stay with them, which I wish I would've.  I didn't let anyone pass me after that though.  I took 4th, Jerrel took 3rd by a fifth a second, and I don't know the guys who beat us.  At the end I felt amazing, and during it I felt great, so I think I could have pushed it a lot more out there.  The 3200 on the other hand was a bit different.  No one was setting a pace again, even Jerrel, so I took it out on the first mile.  I didn't hear my splits for it though.  Jerrel passed me a little after the first mile, and I didn't want to lose my lead so I passed him back.  I then knew that Jerrel was going to pass me soon, because his kick at the end is better than mine, so I kept my pace so I could get a good time.  At the last lap, I knew first place was close, so I tried to kick it, unfortuanatly Jerrell's kick was better than mine and he passed me 150 meters or so away and I just stayed on his heeles the rest of the way.  It was fun and pretty nice though.  My time was 10:05 I think, but maybe a bit more.  Well, now I know what to shoot for in track.
