Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Total Distance
8.00

I felt pretty good during the meet, I knew my main competition was going to be Adam Hendrikson, who would have been my biggest rival in 4A if he didn't have an injury during track season.  I was still a bit sore from Monday, but I felt great after.  We did around a mile warm up trying to figure out the course, and then a mile cool down after the race.

They started the race with a guy saying "bang."  I had a good start.  I almost missed a turn, but my coach was right there telling me where to go.  I probably lost 2 seconds, but it didn't change my race at all.  We then were going into the wind on a dirt course, so I just hid behind Adam here and let him do a bunch of the work.  After we ended on the trail, I passed him and went from the road to another dirt and rock trail.  On the trail it was a very rocky course.  We went around campgrounds, on bridges, on a fourwheeler trail, and a lot of other terrains in this meet.  I kept Adam about the same distance behind me most of the way, until the end I grabbed a bit more ground on him.  I felt really good afterward.  Our team did well also, and it was pretty competitive between a few guys on it.  Overall it was a fun meet.  I did about a mile cool down with some of the team, and then with Tyson.  After we left and I got home I put in 3 more miles.  Now to focus on Murry.

Conner,

Hi.

Excellent job. Congratulations on FIRST PLACE! You almost missed a turn! When I was last reading one of your blog entries, you mentioned actually missing a turn and getting back on course. I am a bit luckier than you I suppose in that I always have someone in front of me leading the way.

Enjoyed reading your report.

Nice job w/ the win and staying on the course this time! :-) It actually sounds pretty complicated... that's why I prefer road races w/ as few turns as possible... haha a lot less to think about

Thanks guys. PRE, I was pretty sure I knew the course both times, but then I found out I didn't, haha. Jake, I agree, road races are usually marked better and are easier to follow.

nice job conner. do you know if murry is a full 3.1?

I'm pretty sure it is. It's probably the most serious taken high school race in Utah, even more then state, so I'd think it would be. Also I heard they changed the finish for it, so I don't know if it'll still be the same.

Really?! i haven't done this race since my sophmore year so i wouldn't know anyway. does AF, Davis, Ogden, or Park city go?

Good race Conner! I really enjoyed the Box Elder course as well last year even though I took a wrong the turn in the woody campground area.
