Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Total Distance
9.50

Good warm up, we ran part of the course, then we stood around, and watched everyone else's races, then we did another warm up with accelerations.  People were running fast times (they labeled it as 5k, but 2.99 or 2.98 is what I heard from the Ogden coach who wheeled, but then Runnercard put it 25 meters short of 3.0).  We hadn't had a fast race course for a while that wasn't really hilly or long so this was finally a race I'd been looking forward to.

We ran out fast, and I thought about drafting on Mike Buckly for the first loop and then break away on the second loop(I know, jerk move on my part), but I just felt really good, and after the 800m mark I just took off.  I felt amazing!  I just didn't care what was happening behind me, and just ran.  It felt soo nice.  I was 4:48 at the mile mark, and then just kept going.  Right before the two mile mark, my stomache started to hurt.  I'd eaten jujst a tad too much before the race, but my legs felt great.  I just kept running and a little ways after the two mile mark Coach Storrs told me to just jump into a tempo pace and I had a big gap on Mike.  I kept being unsure if I should or not, and sat on the fence a lot, with a lot of switching back and forth to tempo, then race pace.  I heard I had 300m left, so I started to push it again, then after I heard the Box Elder coach say I was at 13:40.  I tried to sprint, but without anyone next to you it's hard.  I tried to do a "relaxed sprint" that I worked on during on Monday.

I finished in 14:32.  Mike(who'd been sick. I knew this before the race, but I'd forgot about it) wasn't too far behind, and then some more Ogden guys, but I didn't see any Sky View guys.  CRAP! Then I saw Tyson(our #3) and Alex(our #4), but not Kyler(who was very sick) or Stockton(#5 who didn't have his best race either), so I was scared that we weren't going to make it to state.  We ended up taking 2nd though, so it was great.  Happy we ended up making it back to our 2nd spot in the region. (our girls took 2nd also to Ogden, so if only Ogden didn't come back into our region, we'd be region champs on both sides.)

3 easy mile with my dad when I got home.  I feel amazing.
