Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Total Distance
12.00

Again, I'm not sure exactly how far the distance was, but I heard it was a 5k, but people had 3 miles on their garmins, so it could have been anywhere in that area. We showed up at the race about 40 minutes before the start.  I warmed up a mile, then took off my PJs and did another mile.  I talked with Scott Ensign and Joe Fure before the race started.  I saw someone who I recognized that I knew was fast(Daniel Howell), but later found out that he wasn't racing the race, more of running it. The Big Cannon went off and we started.  Joe was with me for the start and some guy who didn't look like a runner was ahead of us for the first 200m.  After that I dropped them and ran alone.  I felt good, pushing it and all.  I was around 4:57 for the first mile, which is about 34 sec. slower than region, but the mile marker at region was around 15-20 seconds off.  After that I thought I could break 15, but while my confidence went up, I slowed down.  My dad had me about 10:20 for the second mile.  At the second hairpin turn, Some people were going opposite of me and I slowed down and had to squeeze between them and the canal.  After that I sped back up and heard I was at 13:30 with 800 to go.  When that happened I sped up a ton and I knew I had to have been running slower, because I really had a big speed up then.  I came across the line and felt like I had some left.  40 sec. slower than region.   I did a cool down with Scott and Joe afterward, then another by myself.

PM- 5 mile in 30 min.  slower tempo.  1 mile cool down.

Scott it was great seeing you there, Casey, that's way cool he's your cousin. Mike, how did that USU visit go? Luis, I'm not sure which race, but I'll probably do the 5k because I need to stay used to the 5k's for foot locker, are you doing the 10k?

Oh, that's Tyler Roberts. He has the 800m (1:56.04) record and 1600m(4:18.97) record, he got both of those this spring. What other schools are you considering?

Mike, that's sweet! I'm not really thinking about colleges yet. Maybe next year I'll get more into it. Luis, go do it! What was his time that you're going for?

It was a 35:11 but I would be happy with anything 35 haha.
