Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks. 

PRs: 800: 1:56.80-State Track 2014

1600: 4:10-State Track 2014/Mile: Sea Level-Adidas Grand Prix-4:07

3200:Alititude(4500ft): 8:57.99-State Track 2014-2 Mile:8:53 at Brooks PR Invitational

5K: New Balance Indoor Nationals(2014) - 14:24

10K:USA Junior Track Championships (2014)-31:01-Only 10k on a track.

15K: Blacksmith Fork Freedom Run (aided) 48:10(2013).

Half Marathon: 
Utah Valley Half - 1:11:24(aided)(2012)

Post-mission:

3k-8:02 at dr. Sander Invitational and MPSF

Short-Term Running Goals:

Become an all-american in cross country and track.

Sub-14 min 5k in indoor season.

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

Eventually get the school records in the 5km and 10km.  

Personal:

I recently returned from serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ghana.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape. I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Great race. The race went out slow, then Clayson made a big move from behind and took the lead. I eventually made it back to the front group, tried to take the lead with 270m to go, but the guy sped up. I got passed by Danny Carney in the last 30 meters and he won our heat. Fun race, more to come.

Thanks everyone. As far as race mentality, I always feel like I have to have the same mentality in workouts. Like, if Iím really hurting during the workouts, then Iíll just focus on the pain and how much I can hurt. Other times I just try and focus on other things to take my mind off it. Not sure if thatís what youíre looking for.

Thanks. That's interesting. I understand the pain is the same in workouts or racing, but you don't feel like there's a special reserve mentality for racing? The pain of workouts points to the special push in a race, and this isn't possible all the time, that's what makes racing special. As I understand it, one can only truly push themselves a handful of times per year. The targeted nature of training is for this (are you familiar with Lydiard's periodization?)
